November 24th – School Open Day – An opportunity for prospective parents and members of the international community to come and know more about the XLIS and the IB system, as well as participate in some demo classes and fun activities.



Primary School November Events 

Nov 2nd Parent Teacher Conferences 

Parent teacher conferences will be taking place. This is a non-school day for students. You should have received a 15-minute time slot to come and speak to your child’s teacher. 


Nov 5-9th Literacy Week

We love literacy at XLIS. In order to promote the love of reading we will be celebrating literacy week from the 5th to the 9th of November. There will be a different theme each day to promote and support literacy. There will also be a variety of reading activities throughout the week suitable for the level of the students.

 


Nov 6th Fun with Phonics

November 6th – Fun with Phonics – An introduction to some early phonics and reading skills for primary school students. Learn some phonics and activities that can be used at home to consolidate what is learnt at school.


Nov 9th Managebac Tutorial 

November 9th,12:30-13:15 - Managebac Tutorial

An opportunity for parents to learn about the different functions of Managebac, enabling them to better track the progress of their child.


Nov 9th ECE Fun and Field day

November 9th 13:30-15:00 - ECE Fun and Field day. Students and parents can participate in different carnival activities in a fun filled afternoon on the school field.


Nov 15th -16th Book Fair

November 15th -16th – Starbooks from Beijing will visit our library and will be selling books. There will be a variety of English books available for all primary level students. Students can browse on the 15th, then return to buy any books they would like on the 16th.


Nov 29-30th Professional Development

November 29-30th – Professional Development is very important and ensures teachers have the most up to date knowledge on the IB conceptual framework. Jennifer Chang Wathall will be coming to help teachers learn more about conceptual teaching. (These are non-school days for students)


Secondary School November Events 

Nov 2nd Three-Way Conferences 

November 2nd- Secondary Three-Way Conferences for students, teachers and parents in the cafeteria all day. (No classes) Students are at the centre of the conversations.


Nov 3rd CPR Training

November 3rd - CPR training for student leaders (last of 4 days of training for our students, preparing for Week Without Walls trips).


Nov 9th Managebac Tutorial 

November 9th,12:30-13:15 - Managebac Tutorial – An opportunity for parents to learn about the different functions of Managebac, enabling them to better track the progress of their child.


Nov 12th Week Without Walls Presentation

November 12th - Brendan Madden, Mt Everest mountain climber and Service Action Coordinator from Qingdao (US) will give a presentation to secondary students at 8:30 and will spend the day leading a student leadership event for the student council and Week Without Walls student-leaders.


Nov 13th -22nd Week Without Walls Berlin, Germany

November 13th -22nd – Week Without Walls: Members of the Model United Nations will participate in an event in Berlin, Germany.

 


Nov 15th-22nd Week Without Walls Cambodia,Yangshuo,Qinling Mountains

November 15th-22nd - Week Without Walls:  Secondary Service Trips to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Yangshuo and Qinling Mountains, China as well as local service projects in Xi’an.


Nov 23rd Week Without Walls Presentations and Reflection

November 23rd - Week Without Walls student presentations and reflection - whole secondary.


Nov 24th Girls & Boys Basketball Game

November 24th – Girls & Boys basketball game.

 


Nov  27th-28th Special Training for Mathematics Teachers

November 27th-28th - Special Training for Mathematics teachers with Jennifer Chang Wathall.
